I've had a live account with SmartLive for a couple of months, trading forex mostly in the evenings - no problems at all so far, all trades executed quickly, no requotes, withdrawal done promptly, so I'd happily recommend them. Best thing is that spreads are fixed not variable.

You’ve got me thinking – I'm wondering if it’s related to the amount of indicators I’m using and timefrane etc.

I recently noticed the 1 min takes a while to load since I loaded several pivot indicators on the same chart, displaying separate indicators on various timeframes – (ie. 1min, 5min... to 1hr only display Daily pivots with Median lines, 4hr only displays weekly, and daily displays Monthy etc. )

That coupled with the fact I’ve probably got too many historical pivots points displayed… have I managed to delay my own feed?

One to test in the morning!

I get the time from my computer clock and iPhone (which sync up with other markets opening) so something definitely not right, but probably my end

ok, put my first order in and it all went very wrong. i have a lot to learn!

first, i couldn't set the pending order, this is because i had it on sell limit rather than sell stop. it took me a while to figure this out but got the pending order in.

got to work to find the order hadn't triggered. i called customer service and this is down to the amount of margin required.

I've put £300 in the account and my bet this morning was £3 per point, to put a £3 per point in you need to have £474 in your account.

Basically, I haven't got a clue what i'm doing on this platform, at the moment, and am going to have to give myself a crashcourse on the demo platform this evening.


That's not to say it is bad, it's just not as intuitive as IG et al.
Will keep going, thankfully I have £300 no-loss in place till the end of the month to learn the system.

Thanks for the feedback, we have been on it since the beginning of the month running 1 Minute, instead of running on IG. We are coming out of the rollover cost thing quite a bit better off. The platform does take a little getting used to if you are not used to trading from MT4 but after a few days, half a dozen orders/trades we started to actually enjoy it.

I have to second Reviewteam on the benefits of MT4. You can do so much on it, and if you can't someone will have made a script that can. I was testing an EA a while back which used a function to check the Forex Factory calendar for red news. Clever!

Apparently they are running a deal to cover £300 of losses, until the end of August. Anyone tempted to go for Net Trap @ £10 pip tomorrow?

Update time - platform is pretty solid, I've had open trades running on live for quite some time and have abandoned IG and ODL for just one SLM account. Being paranoid, I was convinced that I was being stop-hunted until I looked at the charts on other brokers :-)

Only problem so far is EAs that calculate lotsizes based on the currency whereas SLM 'lotsizes' are pounds per pip. If I'm wrong, scream at me! as I'm an idiot. Also there was a little hiccup where I have enabled EAs on the account webpage but my EAs weren't trading. It turns out that the webpage setting is a trigger for a human to go and do something, which they hadn't done. But one quick and friendly call sorted it out. I like these guys, for now ;-).

Reviewteam - I noted on one of the trading rooms today that you are now using SLM. Anything to add to the reviews? Any plans for an MT4 section of the website - 'Indicators we use'?

Cannot comment on EA's - None of us has ever used one, lack of trust!

SLM - As you probably read, takes a while getting used to Spread betting on MT4 as opposed to "normal" spread betting and "normal" MT4 "lot size" trading, but once over that hurdle, as per other post "loving it".

Re: Indicators we use, yes this is possible, as you know there are already many sites out there offering such arenas so if we can come up with something that would set us part, as we did with system/services reviews (well, we think so at least ) then we will progress it, welcome to ideas and suggestions. Anyone with ideas/suggestions on this please start a new thread or email us direct.
