    Smile Donate-a-PIP Campaign

I note in your Newsletter today that the "Donate a PIP Campaign" has only reached 20% of its target.

I could find no information about this campaign on the forum - the "Advanced Search" facility does not bring up anything about this, so it is no wonder the campaign is under-subscribed.

Traders are not heartless folks - they WILL show their generosity, but you have to give us reasons to "get" the message. This thread is reaching out to traders to tell their stories - particularly where the generosity of others has indeed made a difference.

    Here is one from Australia:

I am a Registered Nurse in my normal life, as well as a part-time trader. During the course of my experiences I accompanied an 11yr old boy to a larger hospital with his parents, to have a CT scan of the brain, to try to diagnose reasons for his occasional "drop attacks" and fainting.

I was in the scanning control room when the image was made, and no one needed to tell me what the white blob in the centre of the brain scan was. It was a tumour the size of large coin (the size didn't matter really).

Within 12 hours, the boy was moved to the State capital hospital for children (Royal Brisbane Children's) and surgery was planned. The prognosis was not good.

His parents were like the rest of us - very little spare cash floating around for something as left-field as this, and it was not looking like they would be able to accompany him due to the prohibitive costs of accommodation for people in their financial circumstances, and work situation.

However, the Queensland Cancer Fund had provision for support services, and accommodation units for families in exactly these circumstances. They were able to be there before and after the surgery, and spent precious time with their son.

After the surgery, he didn't respond as hoped, and within 11 weeks he was gone.

The inevitable outcome, in this case was softened by the provision for his parents to remain close over the course of those weeks. Thanks to the generosity of people who didn't know him or his family, these accommodation units continue today, to provide assistance for folks in similar circumstances.

This is a true story, and one that I hope will move us to donate just a couple of pounds/dollars to this cause - "Donate-a-PIP-Campaign".

I found the link, and my name was NOT found amongst the donors.

By the end of today it will be .... I hope to join YOU in that list.

PS - I invite others to share encouraging stories that show how our donations DO make a difference, where Government funding falls short. And ... if you are moved to help - stop what you are doing right now and take that link to make the donation, before you become distracted again.

    Hi,

You are correct there was nothing on the site and you have rectified that for us now. We thank you for putting us right on that and it is something we should have done, to date the campaign has only been mentioned in our email updates.

ps - Thanks also for your kind donation

Well hopefully if you leave the widget up there we will remember to donate the odd pip or two every now and again until you reach your target. There's no time limit is there? Some of us FTSE1000 ers have promised to donate half our winnings from Nick's signals at the end of the first month - no pressure Nick!

    Hi Sarn,

I forgot about that promise !!! Once we hit 1,000 we reckon we will have a little vote on the next charity and start again - Seems reasonable to us.
